Report: 09-04-2011 – Mens 1st’s (4) vs (1) Rotherham 2nd’s

April 9, 2011 by Slazenger HC

Slazengers mens first team finished the season with a 4-1 win against a physical Rotherham side.

Slazengers pressed from the whistle and went close on a number of occassions, Paul Wiper finally getting the break through with a deft touch to elude the Rotherham keeper.

Slazengers continued to press forward to no avail but weren’t too keen on working back which allowed Rotherham to grab an equaliser. Slazengers still had time to take the lead before the break with Richard Tuddenham getting on the score sheet.

The second half was much of the same, Slazengers controlling possession with Rotherham happy to attack on the break. Slazengers got the better of this however with both Tuddenham and Wiper grabbing their second.

The game and season ended on a dissappointing note however with Tuddenham and a Rotherham player being sent off for a physical altercation.

Jez Whawell took the man of the match award for Slazengers who ended the season in 4th position in Yorkshire League Division 2.
