Slazengers mens first team travelled to Bradford Mens first team in confident mood only to come away on the wrong end of a 5-2 scoreline. Slazengers started poorly and were quickly one down after Bradford capitalised on a Slazengers defensive error.
Bradford continued to press and were 3-0 up at half time with Slazengers down to ten men after Phil Midgley was yellow carded. Slazengers started the second half determined to put some good hockey together but were up against it after Midgley received his second yellow card of the game.
Bradford took advantage of their numbers and were 5-0 up midway through the second half and it was only when Jonny White received a yellow card that Slazengers started to play some hockey. Paul Wiper netted with a neat reverse stick finish and Dan Perry scored Slazengers second following a quick break.
James Walker made some excellent saves in the Slazenger goal and Simon Chamberlain had a strong game playing out of position at centre back.
