Report: 02-04-2011 – Ladies 1st’s (6) vs. (0) Wakefield 4th’s

April 2, 2011 by Slazenger HC

A win for Slazengers in this local derby could mean Promotion to the feeder league, so Slazengers made sure they took the challenge seriously. Ailish Hendry opened the scoring 10 minutes into the game with a well executed short corner, slipping the ball into the bottom corner past the keeper. A second for Hendry followed 5 mins later with a Tomohawk bouncing under the keepers stick and into the back of the net. Hendry then sealed the first half with a another goal from a short corner from the top of the D, yet again on her reverse.

Second half start very much like the first with all the pressure coming from Slazengers as they tried to increase there impressive goal tally. Hendry scored two more in the second half, one from open play and another from a short corner. Finally Sarah Hobbs got herself on the score sheet with 5 mins to go with a short corner strike that flew past the keeper. Ailish Hendry deservedly got Player of the Match for Slazengers.

This win secured Slazengers First Team promotion to the Feeder League and are currently unbeaten with 2 games left next weekend.
