Slazengers knew that this would be hard game against there local rivals and went out with the aim to gain 3 points. Captain Holly Tyers opened the scoring with a scramble in the D just managing to go past the Wakefield Keeper. Wakefield then retaliated catching the Defence off guard bringing the score line to one all.
Slazengers Katie Firth seconds later made sure the equaliser didn’t have too much impact, by a great run down half the pitch taking on the Wakefiield defence and finishing with a brilliant strike from just inside the D.
Mandy Sowerby then increased Slazengers lead to 3 – 1 by converting a short corner which was accurately hit to the corner of the goal. Shortly followed by a rocket of a shot from Sarah Hobbs from the slightest angle from the by-line.
The scoreline ended with another goal from Katie Firth and Wakefield got a late consellation goal . The Slazengers Man of the Match was Defensive Sweeper Lisa Minchella. Final Score was 5 – 2. Slazengers remain Top of the league with 5 matches remaining.
