Slazenger 3rd’s game against top of the table Sheffield Hallam got off to a flying start when Man of the Match, Ste Johnson scored within the first minute of the game. The goal was cooly slotted home after an earlier shot had rebounded off the keepers pads.
The home team were in good form after two recent wins and continued to pressure the Sheffield goal with several decent attacking opportunities. This pressure was rewarded with a second goal on the 20 minute mark when Isaac Fisher cleverly deflected, an excellent ball in from Mark Kitchen, into the top corner.
This has a deflating effect on the opposition who took a while to recover their composure; whilst Slaz on their part failed to capitalise on further goal attempts.
After the break Sheffield came out much more physical and determined to get back into the game but Slazenger’s were resolute in defence and weathered the storm, limiting the opposition to a couple of half chances, which keeper Giles Field dealt with calmly.
There were much fewer chances in the second half but towards the end of the game Slazengers carved out a couple of goal scoring opportunities which weren’t converted.
Next game is at home against Rotherham.
