Slazengers mens first team travelled to Leeds hoping to make it four wins out of four but came away with nothing having gone down 2-1 to a well disciplined Leeds side. Leeds started brightly and took the lead early on after converting a short corner. Slazengers settled into the game and although they had plenty of possession, struggled to play the final ball or get a good shot on target and in the end didn’t really make the Leeds keeper work too hard.A change in formation at half time meant Slazengers were much the stronger side in the second half and started to create chances, Phil Midgley brought a good save out of the Leeds keeper and Richard Tuddenham hit the post with a fierce strike. It was Leeds however who doubled their lead when catching Slazengers out on a fast break.
Heads could have gone down but Slazengers continued to work hard and created a number of chances and it was Paul Wiper who scored with an excellent finish to make for an interesting last 5 minutes. Although they pressed, Slazengers couldn’t find an equaliser and will look to be bounce back next week against top three side Ben Rhydding.
