Slazenger’s took the derby victory.
It is always a close game between arch rivals Wakefield, the game proved to be a very good one to watch. With end to end play and each team pinching back a goal there was some great hockey played by both teams.
Slazenger’s always had the edge to game and in the first 20 minutes it was certainly one way traffic, with Eyelash and Mandy dominating in the centre of midfield, the mix between the youth and experience just shattered Wakefield’s formation.
After a short corner conversion by Mandy Smith and a goal mouth scramble goal from Eyelash the score was 2 -2.
The defence were super special, man of the match Hayley Wood along with her defence team ensured the home side didn’t concede another goal.
The skipper, Holly Tyers had her game raised due to a questionable decision by the home teams umpire; Tyers was determined to steal the game for the visitors. She did this in great style, a quick steel from an error in the home team’s defence resulted in Slazenger’s taking the lead on the game.
Debut performance for the visitors was our new goal keeper, Eleanor, who commanded her ‘D’ in true style to ensure the final result was kept to a 3-2 win to Slazenger’s.
