Slazengers mens first eleven put in easily their best performance of the season against Sheffield Uni Bankers IV to run out comfortable 7-1 victors. Slazengers started with the confidence they have been playing with recently and took the lead when Ben Graham converted from a narrow angle. Slazengers continued to press and doubled their lead after Graham grabbed his second from a short corner strike. Sheffield were trying to get some possession but were getting closed down quickly as Slazengers work rate topped that of the younger university side. Any chances Sheffield created were well dealt with by the Slazengers defence with Lee Secker in goal being solid when called upon. John Sykes got his name on the score sheet just before the break to take Slazengers in 3-0 to the good.
The second half began again with Slazengers pressing, this time Phil Midgley converting form a short corner. Sheffield did begin to press higher up the pitch and eventually broke their duck only for Slazengers to hit back straight away, Jack Kitchen scoring after good work from Midgley. There was still time for last seasons top scorer Sykes to complete a hat trick with a couple of strong finishes as the game drew to an end.
Slazengers will hope to continue their recent good form away at Chapeltown on Saturday.
