Slazengers mens first team came away from Leeds University Mens thirds on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline. However in a game where Leeds had no short corners compared to Slazengers who had close to double figures, the final score certainly didn’t reflect the balance of the game. Leeds enjoyed good spells of possession with Slazengers happy to play on the counter attack and should have taken the lead when Jack Mumford went through only for the Leeds keeper to make a good save. Leeds eventually opened the scoring with a fortuitous finish and doubled their lead shortly before the break after Slazengers failed to clear a loose ball. The second half was much of the same with Slazengers hitting Leeds on the break, and again should have opened their account with a number of chances going begging before Leeds University increased their lead. As the game began to become more stretched, chances fell at both ends with James Walker making a number of quality saves in the Slazengers net. The Leeds keeper also continued his fine form denying Slazengers time and time again. It was left to Leeds to have the final say and they completed the scoring late in the half. Slazengers will hope to find their scoring touch next week but face a tough test against top of the league Kinston upon Hull.By Ben Graham
