Slazengers mens first team relegation battle took a backward step at the weekend after they went down 2-0 to a strong Chapeltown side.It could have been very different however as Slazengers controlled much of the possession, but they lacked the finishing touch in front of goal with the Chapeltown keeper barely making a save. The first half was very much Slazengers controlling the ball without creating anything and despite a number of short corners, it was Chapeltown who went in at the break 1-0 up after a fast breakaway goal.
The second half was very similar, Slazengers again with much of the possession without being able to convert and as they continued to press looking for an equaliser, another breakaway goal for Chapeltown cemented their victory. Jack Mumford was strong in goal with Jez Whawell and Matt Birkett both impressing for Slazengers but the pressure is mounting for Slazengers who travel to top of the table York University next week.
