Report: 24-09-2005 – Mens 3rd’s (1) vs. (3) Leeds 4th’s

September 24, 2005 by Slazenger HC

A good second-half performance couldn’t prevent Slazenger 3rd’s from going down to a 3-1 defeat at home to Leeds 4th’s.

Excellent defending from Ashley Smith and some fine saves from Lee Secker kept rampant Leeds down to a three-goal lead at the break, but the switch to 4-5-1 at the interval paid off.

Slaz turned on the style and a magical run from Jonny Halliday and further good work from Simon Taylor set up John Sykes, who netted with a magnificent reverse sweep effort.

The midfield worked hard with Andy Pickles and Simon Killey pushing forwards for Slaz, but there were no further goals. Slaz visit York in their next game.
