Slazenger U12’s took part in four Yorkshire Youth League matches at the weekend, the highlight being a 4-0 win over local rivals Wakefield.
The competition started with a 0-0 draw with Pickering where they missed a number of chances to win the match, but made amends in the second match against Wakefield powering to a 4-0 win.
Carrying on the positive attacking play from their first match, they turned the chances into goals with Philippa Secker and Heather Bates both scoring two goals apiece.
York provided stiffer competition and edged a tight contest 2-0. Slazengers were guilty of wasting their scoring opportunities, while York were more clinical giving debut goalkeeper Roberta Davis no change.
The final match of the tournament was against Halifax who were the strongest team in the group and a tiring Slazengers side were put under constant pressure in a 5-1 defeat.
Ailish Hendry playing resolutely in defence with substitutes Chloe Bates and Georgina Davis providing fresh energy in midfield to keep the score down to 5-1.
