Fifteen seconds was all it took for Keith Whittle to open the scoring for Slazenger and send them on their way to an exciting 4-3 win over visiting Bradford.
The hosts added to this just a minute later through Butel’s reverse stick shot that established a 2-0 lead in less than two minutes. Slazenger then eased off the gas and, despite the effort of their defence, they found themselves pegged back for 2-2 by gutsy Bradford.
The home side rallied and moved up t gear to play some delightful slick hockey which led to a corner. Whittle capitalised to fire his side into a half-time 3-2 lead.
After the break, Slazenger continued to dominate and extend their lead to two when James Swinden pounced. But the hosts allowed Bradford back in the game again and the visitors pulled a goal back to make it 4-3. Fortunately, Slazenger were able to hold on and clinch their first three points of the season.
James Swinden took the man of the match honours. On Saturday, Slazenger travel to Stockton.
