Report: 09-02-2002 – Mens 1st’s (1) vs. (2) Sheffield Uni Bankers 2nds’s

February 9, 2002 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger conceded two last-gasp goals and the points against Northern Counties League visitors Sheffield University Bankers.
After a slow start the home side dominated the game, putting continuous pressure on the Sheffield defence and it eventually paid off when Mark Butel broke the deadlock in the first period.

Slazenger pushed for a second with Andy Foreman enjoyed success downthe left and some fine play from David Kaye. But they couldn’t press home their advantage and in the second period had to rely on goalkeeper David Hellam to keep their slender lead with some fine saves.

Having suffered injuries, the Slazenger side struggled late on and were made to pay when the visitors stole the points with their two late strikes.

This Saturday, Slazenger travel to Stockton, push-back 1.30pm
