Slazenger fourths suffered an unfortunate 3-0 reversal at Yorkshire League 8 rivals Boston Spa thirds.
While the score line suggests otherwise, it was, in fact, a close encounter but Slazenger simply failed to capitalise on several good half-chances produced by the unstinting effort of Andy Auty and Richard Hutchins in midfield.
Slazenger trailed by just one goal at half time and went into the second stanza brimming with confidence. But after fending off Boston Spa for much of the half, Slazenger succumbed to two very late strikes. James Walker and Jonathan Halliday impressed for Slazenger. The fourths entertain York sevenths on Saturday, push back 4:30pm.
