Kevin Windler closed with a hat-trick that clinched the points for Slazenger who bounced back from the previous week’s defeat with this excellent first win of the season over strong East Pennine opposition.
Slazenger were under pressure from the outset but good defending, led by captain Mark Swallow coupled with sound goalkeeping from Dave Hellam thwarted the home attack.
An excellent strike from Windler gave Slazenger the lead and from another good build up Windler made it two.
A penalty corner, however, produced a goal in reply for Bankers and a few minutes later the same tactic was employed to square the game going into the break.
Sheffield took the lead for the first time early in the second half but Slazenger refused to let their heads drop and after Hellam had saved expertly from a penalty corner, turned the tide back in their favour and won through with goals by Kevin Whittle and Windler.
