We are committed to making hockey welcoming and accessible to everyone. This policy sets out our pledge to promote equality, diversity and inclusion, prevent discrimination, and uphold England Hockey’s Equality Policy.
2. Our Commitments
- Treat all members, volunteers, officials and visitors with dignity and respect.
- Ensure no one is treated less favourably because of age, disability, gender identity, marital/parental status, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or other relevant characteristics.
- Make reasonable adjustments where required to reduce barriers to participation.
- Promote fair, transparent and inclusive practices in team selection, volunteering, coaching, officiating and governance.
- Take action against discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation.
3. Responsibilities
- The Club Committee will lead on implementing this policy and review it regularly.
- An Equality & Inclusion Lead will act as a point of contact, raise awareness and monitor progress.
- All members are expected to uphold the values of equality and inclusion, and inappropriate behaviour may lead to disciplinary action.
4. Reporting & Review
- Concerns or complaints should be raised with the Club Secretary and will be handled promptly and fairly.
- The policy will be reviewed every three years (or sooner if required by England Hockey guidance or law).
5. Communication
- The policy will be available on the club website and included in member communications.
- We will provide simple guidance or training where needed and encourage feedback to improve inclusivity.
