2025 League – Week 7 – Match Reports

October 30, 2025 by Slazenger HC Leave a Comment

Men’s 1sts (6) vs. (1) University of Leeds 1sts

Slazenger Men’s 1s produced a dominant display to overcome Leeds University 1sts with an emphatic 6–1 victory at home.

From the first whistle, Slazenger set the tempo with confident, flowing passing hockey that left the visitors chasing shadows. The home side’s attacking intent was rewarded with goals from Joe Minchella, Mark Swinden, Amar Khalil, Jordan Ingham, Ollie Leonard, and Isaac Fisher, each finishing off well-worked team moves.

Despite their control, Slazenger’s hopes of a clean sheet were dashed when Andy Loftus was beaten by a solitary Leeds effort late in the game.

Overall, it was an excellent all-round display from the home side — fast, composed, and clinical — securing a well-deserved three points.

Ladies 2nd’s (4) vs. (5) University of Leeds

Slazengers started strong with plenty of pressure on Leeds Uni, managing to be awarded multiple short corners. Unfortunately they couldn’t convert and Leeds Uni attacked quickly. They scored, and quickly scored again to claim a 2-0 lead.

Slazengers were far from believing the game was gone when Vice Captain Lou Haigh, and young forward Lucy Hodson brought it back to a draw. Leeds Uni scored 1 more to finish a dramatic first half 3-2. The second half continued with pressure in both directions of the pitch.

Player of the match Ella Haigh was instrumental in driving towards the attacking D for Slazengers. Goals from Nikki Swindon and Ella meant that although they battled well Slazengers finished with 5-4 loss
