Over the last few months we have been reviewing our current training provision, attendance numbers and how best to provide provide a strong foundation to develop the section.
Historically, we have used Sunday for the majority of training. Over the last few years, the increase in league and cup hockey, representational hockey, family and other sporting commitments, Duke of Edinburgh, etc has made Sunday training increasingly problematic. Even for our enthusiastic hockey players, we were often only seeing them for training once or twice a month due to tournaments, cup games, etc.
Last season we moved all U14/16 training to a Monday night to great success – our numbers continue to grow, and it has allowed us to deliver consistent training. We believe it has been a real success and has allowed us to deliver better coaching to the players.
This season we have been faced with a similar situation with the Under 12 age group. With all things considered, we believe that a similar approach needs to be taken, in moving training away from a Sunday. Due to this, we have decided to move Under 12 training into the week for the remainder of the season. We believe this will allow more children to attend and enable us to develop better and more consistent training.
U12 training will now be on TUESDAY 6pm-7pm
I’m aware that this may cause some problems for a few players, and I’m happy to speak about it with anyone who has concerns. However, we hope this will allow more people access to a better hockey experience.
Finally, if you know a player who stopped due to Sunday hockey, now is the perfect time for them to get back involved, so please let them know of our change!
Many Thanks
