After a disappointing match last week Slazenger men’s 2nd team got back to winning ways with a difficult home match to Lincoln Roses 3s beating them 5-3.
Slaz started off second best and were soon behind after 5 minutes from a quick attack from Lincoln. This however made slaz wake up and were soon creating chances of their own and after 15 minutes play slaz got their first goal, Neil Crouch dribbled past two Lincoln player into the ‘D’ and passed to Simon Randall to slot the ball home.
Lincoln then started putting pressure on slaz again and they nearly scored but slaz keeper, and man of the match, Giles field made some outstanding saves to keep them out. After slaz absorbed Lincoln’s attacks they scored their second and third goals. The second was set up again by Neil crouch who charged at the ‘D’ passed the ball to Byron Dean who drew out the keeper and passed to Jake Barras who tapped it in. The third was started off by Anwar Al-Khaili who passed the ball back to Neil Crouch who ran at the ‘D’ and passed it off to Simon Randall to score his second.
After the break Lincoln started off strong again were putting slaz under a lot of pressure and eventually pulled the score back level from two counter attacks. This again made slaz take the game to Lincoln and were soon ahead again.
Jake Barras dribbled round one player and ran into the left side of ‘D’ and reverse hit the ball into the top right corner. Lincoln were now getting tired and it started to show as slaz enjoyed most of the possession and created more chances. Byron Dean got slazenger’s fifth goal scoring from a short corner.
