Welfare and Safeguarding

Slazenger HC’s safeguarding policies are designed to minimise the risks to young people taking part and to maximise their enjoyment and well being. Everyone that is involved in hockey has a duty of care to others within the sport and a legal and moral duty to ensure their safety and welfare.

ENGLAND HOCKEY’S SAFEGUARDING POLICY

Slazenger Hockey Club has adopted SafeD; England Hockey’s Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Hockey Policy. This policy shows commitment to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for all young people involved hockey.

Safe D includes both new and revised documents that cover a number of areas within hockey. These documents will be constantly updated to ensure they provide the most up to date guidance.

Good Practice
Providing guidance for issues such as changing rooms, transport, supervision ratios, additional vulnerability, communication etc.

Anti-bullying
Highlighting all forms of bullying, how to prevent it and what actions to take if it occurs.

Social Media Guidance
Social media provides a great communication opportunity from clubs to National Governing Bodies. To find out more about using social media, take a look at our guidance.

Juniors in Senior Teams
England Hockey’s new guidance is aimed at senior coaches/captains and parents and highlights a number of topics such as over training, willingness to play, playing positions, and parent pressure.
