Report: 29-11-2015 – Girls U14’s

November 29, 2015 by Slazenger HC

The girls u14 team had a great morning of hockey at Leeds Grammar school, despite the weather!!

Their first game saw them take an early lead against Brigg. Their goal was soon cancelled out when Brigg broke through the defence to equalise, however Slazenger never gave up and managed a further 2 goals to leave the final score 3:1.

Their second game against Driffield 2 caught the girls somewhat off guard and conceded 2 early goals. Their determination then kicked in, which resulted in them pulling one back. The last 10 minutes of the game were spent in Driffields defensive half of the pitch, but despite a number of chances and excellent attacking play Driffields defence stayed strong and denied them the equaliser which would have been well deserved. Final score 2:1

Slazengers dominated in their final game against Sheffield 2, great defensive play meant that Sheffield never had an opportunity near the goal. Slazengers had many chances – converting 3 left the final score 3:0.

The girls played so well as a team that it would be difficult to single out individuals, however special mentions go to Abigail Render, Izzy Bibby and Bella Thompson who all made fantastic debut performances for the team.

Report: 07-11-2015 – Girls U14’s

November 7, 2015 by Slazenger HC

The under 14 girls played some great hockey in this weekends tournament at Darton College.

A brilliant end to end game against Rotherham saw the girls leading 1:0 for most part, thanks to a well worked goal finished off by Leah Pearman and great work from Goal keeper Eleanor Cramp (on her debut). A short corner against the team was converted in the closing minutes seeing Rotherham equalise – final score 1:1

In a tough second game against Leeds, Georgia Field put Slazengers ahead. With Abigail Collins dominating the midfield, and support from the back 3 – Sophie Fallas, Ashleigh Jones and Mollie Gilbert the opposition were unable to draw level. Final score 1:0

Slazengers dominated their final game against Huddersfield Dragons and managed to find the back of the net 8 times, Lily Gilbert was a driving force down the right hand side and Jess……..settled into the team well. With goals from Mollie Gilbert (3), Katie Minchella (3), Leah Pearman and Emily Hunter, final score 8:0.

Unfortunately, despite the high goal tally, promotion was denied on goal difference – this is now the aim for the next tournament at the end of November.

February 22, 2015 by Slazenger HC

Slazenger u14 girls remained unbeaten again this weekend and secured promotion for a second tournament in succession.

With a half time score of 1:1, the girls came out determined. A shot from Gabby Giggle put them back ahead before a well executed short corner routine gave katie Minchella her 2nd goal. Ben Rhydding were able to pull a goal back to make the final score 3:2 in Slazengers favour.

In the second game, with exceptional defending from Maisie Fallas, Sophie Fallas and Olivia Marsden along with keeper Amber Burton Slazengers were able to keep Slazengers in front throughout. Goals from Abigail Collins, Emily Hunter and Mollie Gilbert gave a final score of 3:1

Report: 25-01-2015 – Girls U14’s Tournament (Brigshaw)

January 25, 2015 by Slazenger HC

2015-01-25 - GU14

Slazenger girls under 14’s secured promotion to league 6 with fantastic team performances on Sunday.

Slazengers dominated in both their games, demonstrating great supportive play with movement on and off the ball. Pre tournament team talks centred (amongst other things) around the need to score goals as promotion had previously been denied when a better goal difference would have been enough.

The girls did not disappoint scoring 3 in the first game against Huddersfield with goals from Leah Pearman, Abigail Collins and Katie Minchella.

The second game saw Slazenger double their previous efforts, putting 6 in the second against Driffield. Katie Minchella netted a hat trick to add to her first goal in the earlier game, with Gabby Giggle, Megan Popple and Alice Cass rounding off the goals.  The flurry of goals was matched at the other end with some brilliant defending and great saves from goalkeeper Lideya Booth meaning that a clean sheet was maintained throughout.

Report: 07-01-2007 – Girls U14 Tournament 9-01-07

January 7, 2007 by Slazenger HC

Frustrated Slazenger U14s started the new year in dominant form in terms of possession but were disappointed with their three-match results.

Slazenger held Leeds to a goalless draw, were unfortunate to lose out 2-0 to Kingston upon Hull, and talented goalkeeper Adam Davis restricted York to a 2-0 win.

Amber Johnson and Lara Colwood impressed for Slazenger.
